Gloria Floyd Elementary School

parent community, headed by the local

Welcome to the 2011-2012
academic year!
It is an honor to be back for another school year at Gloria Floyd
Elementary School. Many diverse
learning experiences are in
place for your children this
year. Our goal is to challenge
our students intellectually, to
encourage them to develop
socially, and to guide them
toward independent thinking and
problem solving. As we strive to
promote positive development in
all aspects of each student’s
life, it is our goal to develop
a school community of
respectful, responsible, and
caring learners who make good
choices and decisions resulting
in successful and healthy
outcomes. We |

encourage students to give the best of themselves every moment of
every day. We want to instill within our
students a sense of personal pride, academic
responsibility, as well as love for our
school.
As always, we are eager to implement our school wide goals.
Together, we are planning fun time events
and activities to be enjoyed by both the
students and their families. Therefore, in
an effort to begin our year, I am inviting
all parents to attend our school activities
and to join our school’s PTA. This is a good
opportunity to meet your children’s teachers
and our support team. It is also an
opportunity for our staff to meet new
families and greet returning ones.

Student Services
The Comprehensive Student Services Program
addresses the educational, career, and
personal/social needs of all students. It is
an integral and central part of the district
total educational program. The program is
student development centered and includes
sequential activities designed to assist all
students in acquiring competencies in career
planning and exploration, knowledge of self
and others, and educational and vocational
development. The program is implemented by
qualified professional personnel working in
collaboration with students, teachers,
parents, community members, and
administrators. Student services personnel
are uniquely capable of addressing the
students/family needs holistically.
